About
Hi!
I am a primarily self-taught artist (did some study at Arizona Western College and the University of Arizona), mother of a very talented teenage daughter and wifeof the most wonderful man on the planet. Currently working full-time as an office manager but aspire to a 30 second commute. Born and raised in Phoenix now living Northwest of Tucson, AZ.
As long as I can remember, I’ve had some strange need to create. Whether lying on the floor at my grandmother’s drawing pictures or sitting in my room making clothes for my dolls, I was always up to something.
My mother was a fearless about tackling large projects. She single-handedly upholstered our downstairs powder room (she covered the walls with batting and fabric – insanity!) and frequently dragged home shabby old furniture to refinish. I think she’s responsible for one of my greatest gifts: willingness to experiment. All of you out there who hesitate, just TRY it! Whatever it may be. What’s the worst that can happen?
When my daughter was born, I needed something easy and clean to work with. So, I invested in a set of Prismacolor pencils. They are truly wonderful. I’ve had the great honor of displaying my colored pencil work in a couple of local galleries.
I discovered needle felting in late 2007. It’s very therapeutic. Once I started, it was very difficult to put down. While it doesn’t have the “serious art” reputation of other media, I may love it more. After I had been doing it for a just couple of weeks, I was asked to teach it! Could have knocked me over with a feather.
I wish you the best in your creative endeavors.
