stacy

Many of you don’t know that I work full time running the office at a local association of churches.  (Which one doesn’t matter – this isn’t about denomination or church per se.)  I was shown the video below at a conference we hosted.  It has haunted me ever since.

Although Penn Jillette of Penn & Teller is an atheist, he respects Christians who share their faith.  Why?  If you truly believe those who don’t know God are headed for eternal torment, how much do you have to hate someone not to tell them? How much do you have to despise a person not to simply present them with the information?

Ouch.  So, why don’t we share?  In my case, I think it’s plain old fear of rejection.  Also, I spent many years in Agnosticism then seeking and deeply resented the (frankly, obnoxious) efforts of the Christians I knew to convert me.

Time to set that aside.  There are people I care deeply for that I have never taken the time and effort to share with.  I ask your forgiveness.

I won’t be bugging you about it.  I simply won’t.  It’s not in my nature.  If you know me, you know I’m not preachy – and I never will be.  This just had to be said.

It’s not what you do, it’s who you know.

We can never be good enough to get into Heaven.  Never. So, God offers us a free ticket.  All we have to do is RSVP.  Better yet, he offers the opportunity to enter into a relationship with Him.

In Jesus’ words, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16-17, NLT)

Jesus came to pay the price of admission for us.  Like the lambs sacrificed in the Old Testament, he took on the sin of the world and died to pay the price.  What does it get you?  A clean slate with God.  The privilege to come before Him as one of His own.  To become one of His adopted children.  Forever.

It doesn’t matter who you are, what you’ve done, what you look like or what your background is. He loves every one of us.  Every one. All you have to do is believe it with your heart and say it with your mouth.

Make your own needle felted nest pin or magnet.  These are one of the best sellers in my shop and make great small gifts.

Supplies you will need:

* Small amount of brown wool (or other desired color)
* One felting needle (I prefer medium star)
* Three pearls or egg-shaped beads 5-7mm (you could use other beads, of course)
* Beading needle – very thin
* Thread to match your wool
* Tie Tack, bar pin or small magnet
* Foam to felt on

No comment required, really.

Sara of Woolies and Buster and Boo fame, wrote a nice blog post about me!   I didn’t even have to bribe her. ;)   We met way back in 2007 at  a local fiber ranch.  She even took one of my needle felting classes.  Brave woman!  Thanks so much, Sara.

I FINALLY launched my new shop on Etsy.  Sweet Escargot…

It’s been in the works since late last year.  The name came from a nickname given to me by one of the Etsy Project Embrace members, a sweet lady from Israel named Orly.

The stand alone web shop is still in the works.   Seems my coding skills are insufficient so it’s taking a while to figure out all the gory details.  I’m hoping to have it done by early fall.  (If anyone knows php well and wants to volunteer or barter some assistance, please let me know!)

Being stuck at work, car-less, has it’s advantages.   (Unfortunately, I love too far away to bike or walk.)  This afternoon, I had the chance to catch up on some blog reading.  Olive Bites, authored by Cat Ivins of Polarity and Uncorked, is a great one to add to your regular repertoire.  I haven’t been there in a while…

Back in March, Cat did a series of articles called, “Standing Out on Etsy 101″.  101, indeed.  There’s a wealth of information for seasoned sellers as well as noobs.   Check out the articles:

If you’re a veteran Etsy seller or you have no intention of ever selling on Etsy, read them anyway.  Cat is very entertaining!

Sounds pretty ambitious, doesn’t it?  Well, it is.  It’s also attainable in my opinion. (Not something to be undertaken solo, however!)  Check out this video from Tara Gentile and Megan Auman.

If you would like to join in their adventure, you can sign up for email updates at Scoutie Girl.

They look really young.  LOL  I only wish that I had been so squared away at their age!  I was pretty desperate for some kind of creative, money-making outlet back when I was the stay-at-home mom with a little one.  Things are different now… more complicated.

Of course, the internet was also in its infancy then.  There are so many more opportunities available these days.  Thankfully, it’s never too late!
